Annual Outing - On Saturday 8th June 2019 we started our trip to Avoca Outlet Dunboyne for a lovely morning coffee and tasty scones. Most ladies managed to have a look around the Garden Centre area of this fantastic venue which put us in good spirits for our next place to visit.
GUINNESS STOREHOUSE
We were impressed with this huge complex and ready for our free pint of Guinness and a tour of the Storehouse. Below just a few photos of interest and of course the shopping bag.
Then on to the IRISH NATIONAL WAR MEMORIAL GARDENS - PHOENIX PARK
During our walk around the gardens we found the Sunken Rose Garden filled with scented old roses one of which was the famous ‘Peace’ rose produced by Meilland of France in 1945. Some of us decided this would be a good place to rest, breathe in the scents of the roses and reflect on the past.
Before heading for home we enjoyed a 4 course evening meal at the Riverfront Hotel in Virginia where we all agreed that we had spent a wonderful day which will be hard to forget. Our thanks to Margaret Mulligan, our President, who organized this wonderful trip

A team of ladies from Maudabawn ICA guild represented the Cavan Federation at the recent All Ireland Pitch and Putt competition on Saturday 27th September in Seapoint Pitch and Putt, Termafeckin. Teams were drawn and two of the Cavan ladies, Matrina and Joan were drawn again Brid and Jackie from Co. Clare while Bridget and Roisin of the Cavan team were drawn against Ann and Vera from Co Meath. After a while everyone settled in and got into the "swing" of things and proceeded to enjoy a few wonderful hours of pitch and putt along with some great comradery in the glorious sunshine. When all the games were finished
the ladies adjourned to An Giranan for a most enjoyable lunch followed by the presentation of participation certificates and the winners prizes. Although Cavan did feature in the top 3 a very enjoyable day was had by all and the girls hope that maybe next year will be their year. However they are holding on to Leila's words "You are winners for taking part". Results:1st Co Meath, 2nd Co. Dublin 3rd Co Wicklow

CRAFT NIGHT IN MAUDABAWN
Maudabawn ICA resumed after their summer break on Monday Sept 8th in Gallonray House. After attending to all the business they welcomed Kathleen Fox from their neighbouring guild, Knockbride West ICA Kathleen came and displayed her wide variety of crafts. She is a hugely talented lady the it would appear there is no end to her talents. Kathleen displayed some lovely Carrickmacross Lace, Rag pictures, wool bottle covers, items made from clothes pegs, card holders from pringle boxes, tile
pictures and many many more. She mesmerised the ladies with her beautiful knitted handbags, but what amazed them most was that the bags were actually knitted out of plastic bags no less. Surprisingly stylish for bin bags!!!! Then Kathleen showed the ladies how to make a nice cross out of clothes pegs so it was all hands on deck for the "make and do" session. Everyone really enjoyed the night and were very impressed with all Kathleen's wares!
